Design & Features Wishlist Thread

Hi, I read about being ble to Kanban and being able to batch drag. Yet I don´t see the option. would love to! Would be great to shift a thought from one list to the other. AND: swiping between lists! So, I´d wish to:

not being able to „just” change position of a thought vertically, but horizontally too: Dragging it to the edge of display -left or right- would open next list, where thought could be released.

I hope I made that clear. Justb like horizontally dragging within apps in fullscrean mode.

Thanks!

Centering is a cool idea for expanding ‘simple formatting’. I like that and underline for ideas there. Will probably get to things like that a little later on though after first addressing what we can with what people immediately miss. (And also teaching current simple formatting better, I would be surprised if more than 10% of you are aware of it!)

I need to think more about sideways list switching ideas etc. because we do have a very vertical spatial organization in the lists/sublists form of the app. But here’s how you can now batch drag, and drag & drop between lists in new Clear:

Batch Drag: After picking up one row, with other hand tap other rows to add

Drag & Drop Between Lists: While dragging a row (or multiple), use other hand to back out (recommend the new back button) and then you can drop them off in a list, or hover for a couple seconds over one to spring load into it.

All I need!
Thanks for that!

Added to my Gesture Guide list. Thanks.

We should… probably do the same. Or at least consider an advanced Gestures list, just didn’t want to overwhelm people with too many.

Also have some plans to tame the overwhelming quantity of Rewards in that list into sublists, and hopefully much more inviting Tutorial group to tackle to start etc. over updates.

Or just arrange the more complex ones towards the bottom of the list?

That too, among other things we rushed in the end getting basic onboarding in (after the design/feature set had settled later in beta). So there should be a lot of improvements we can make with clearer heads post launch.

I’m already happy that Clear still has new life and that it can last for many, many years. I overcame the trauma of iCloud synchronization hoping one day to also have the new Mac version. The only thing I ask of you is that whatever is implemented never loses the focus of this splendid app, namely simplicity and immediacy. If this is missing, Clear’s soul is missing

I had no idea, thank you for this!

My top would be:

  1. Animations to be same as Clear 1 when opening and closing lists. Was so much smoother and faster and felt organic.
  2. Make animations like clear 1.
  3. Make animations like clear 1

Ahhh I can’t restore it to exactly how it was, but I really do think we can make some major improvements. Check the preview I posted as an example, that will be in 2.0.2. I do think it feels meaningfully simpler/smoother. And zoom in/out has its organic rationale too.

It does look snappier than before. Thank you for constantly hearing our ramblings. You guys are awesome and happy birthday to you. And thank you for giving us such a beautiful app.

Thank you! Had a very nice birthday with friends, really appreciated the ‘happy birthdays’ sprinkled through the thread. Was a super large order so the server got a kick out of me having it all listed and ready in Clear

Loving the new version so far!

Would like the ability to sort lists, such as alphabetically.

Also, message count like several have mentioned already. Thanks, keep up the good work, and look forward to future updates and personalization/reward options.

Clear was always open on my MacBook!

One more layer of lists would be helpful.

The ability line break, some type of alt+enter system to create a title and imidate note.

Export data link ( given the implementation, without this option it feels like Clear is holding our data for ransom)-sorry

ability to share lists with other clear users. Some type of private lists and shared lists.

If there is not going to be an app, some type of web portal that allows for multidevice management.

  1. Agree about springiness with others. Clear 2 is a bit too bouncy, whereas Clear 1 was short and efficient. I preferred that.
  2. Animation when pinching out of list: this doesn’t make sense anymore. I really liked how Clear 1 had the higher level menu pinch down from the top and bottom of the screen, as if you were backing out of a room. The current one doesn’t make sense with the gesture.
  3. I don’t like the gesture for setting reminders. It’s too easy to accidentally check off an item, and then I have to go down to get it and one I uncheck I need to bring it back to where it was. Also the swipe distance before you hit reminder is very far, I’m like 60% across my screen which is really uncomfortable particularly if the item is high up on the screen.
  4. Volume settings for sounds. I’d love to set it to be a quiet tick/blip that gives you that little dopamine hit without too much of a distraction, but now I’m picking between no sound and sound that’s loud enough to break my flow.
  5. Shortcuts support. For instance “Copy list as text to clipboard” would be awesome, then I can hook up one that gets my shopping list and sends it to my girlfriend (the sending part i can do with other apps, just need to get it to clipboard).
  6. Advanced gestures guide. I feel like I’m missing out on some stuff now, but don’t know what. (Maybe hide it behind the first time you do a semi-advanced gesture?)

My wishlist is as follows:

1- icon badge notification to show number of items in last opened list and if possible in the app itself, show number of items in each list shown on right side of each list and maybe also in the title of list once in the list.

2- a toggle to bring back the old gesture to go back to previous view just by scrolling past list.

3- a manual way to backup lists and have them exported to a file (something like the clearx:export-data function) but as a easy to spot menu item in settings… that way there is no reliance on any cloud service for those who don’t want to use that type of storage method.
