Do NOT delete your app if it crashes and other migration updates

I’ve lost all of my lists also after the App Store update (While having the TestFlight version for years)!

Any updates on getting our lists back ? I lost 3 years worth of critical business and personal lists as soon as I did the upgrade. Nothing in archive -

This has happened to me to: I use all the time for work and this is really not good. Please support as a matter of urgency. Also, please add the ability to report bugs etc. to the app and I am losing further time now having to jump through hoops to report.

With the new app update, I lost all my lists!…including the ones I just edited yesterday, is there a way to have the old app copy into the new one?! The lists that did import are several years old.

Was running Beta beofre and did not manually update the app, new version just appeared with nothing on it!

Deleted TestFlight version, and downloaded new clear 2.0. All lists initially migrated over. Was great all day - left a glowing review in the App Store.,Then last night all lists disappeared. The app was just colored lines with no data & there was no data in archive. I deleted clear 2.0 and tried to reinstall TestFlight. All data is gone in both TestFlight and new 2.0, Now all data is empty - alll of my lists since 2012. Hope this will get sorted out today.

Same! I have so many important lists I rely on and they’re all gone. I’ve been using Clear for many years and desperately need access to them. I’m so worried they are lost!!

I lost all my tasks! Clear was syncing with iCloud until yesterday. The new version should be better and start from the features Clear always have. It’s unbelievable you missed that concept.

Now I cannot downgrade, I can’t see all my lists and tasks… This launch made this (almost perfect GTD) app useless for older clients that supported you for many many years, like me.

It’s a launch for just new customers.

Very scary. I hope they find a way to restore our work.

Help Help !!! I have lost ALL my information !! I use this app constantly for years…and all that is gone ! There is no where to get to any past archives or anything ! I just happened to put my schedule on a paper calendar yesterday…but really want my lists back !

You say there are 10-15,000 users and only 1% are effected…I think they just arent all awake yet to realize all their lists are gone. I actually joined this group to see what is being done about it. Still worried.

I have lost my lists, too. I did not upgrade to the newer version…it was suddenly there. How do I get my lists back?

My lists disappeared too. I’m hoping they can be restored since I use this app for everything. Help!!

I use this clear lists everyday. I’ve been. happily using them for years. Now, without a notification or warning I opened the app and found it had updated without letting me know. NONE of my lists are there and all my information lost!! What is going on? Are you trying to correct this or are they gone forever?

Starting our day here in a bit and diving into this again.

There’s at least several different cases going on, but at least one or two of these we have some leads and will start with them and shoot for a TestFlight build / beta to invite you all into. Basically we will be making builds that focus purely on diagnostics and based on what we find hopefully recovery.

IF you ever ran the beta, please check the Archive in the release version. (Found in home level of the app where you can find Personalize, Shop etc.) There are cases where beta lists were all transferred there.

IF you did not beta test, and were a past user who did not have Clear currently installed on your device, and installed it again fresh when the new version released. That would be a case where we don’t have local data to work with unfortunately.

Finally if you were using Clear 1.x regularly, never beta tested, and simply updated to the release version. The one thing I ask is do not delete your app, your data really should still be contained there that we hope we can work with.

My wife’s lists disappeared as well!!!

After the app updated on her iPhone 15, it would not open. She would swipe up > quit and try to open the app again and it would just freeze. So, unfortunately she thought she would try to delete the app and install it again from the App Store. And in deleting the app, she deleted all the data. And upon downloading the App from the App Store, the App now worked but all her data for the past 10 years was gone :sob: :sob: :sob: . In helping her try to restore the data, we decided to perform an iPhone reset and recover from an older iCloud backup.

And after just finishing restoring the iPhone from an iCloud backup from a couple of days ago, it seems that her data from the iCloud backup is there. So, it seems, that after an iCloud>iPhone restore, the iPhone will download all necessary apps that were there before. And in that process it seems to have downloaded the new Clear app. And it seems that all the data from the lists have been restored and working with the new Clear App. A HUGE SIGH OF relief for her after some tears of losing a decade worth of information.

Just want to say, you have made a Great App, but I think maybe you guys could put something in the “Personalize” or “Control Panel” area of the app to perform an explicit backup of the Clear data to places like Dropbox, Google Drive, or iCloud.

Hope the above information could provide some help to others.

Yes, same thing happened to me. I am desperate to get my list back as it contained some important info (passwords etc.) and I have no other record. Infuriating and panic-inducing.

Thanks Amer, obviously huge apologies for putting you through all that.

The iCloud backup restore method you shared actually does seem helpful. I want to digest it a bit before we start advising it to anyone here, but it’s good to know for a lot of people there will be one more backup layer/possibility even if they deleted the app.

And also yes, we have a half finished simple iCloud daily backups system that we should prioritize finishing and shipping in early roadmap.

We should get you a new diagnostic build soon.

So far, we have some 17 reported issues, and for some of them, we found the lists in the archive. Moving lists to the archive is our fallback mechanism when we detect a conflict with multiple apps.

To access the archive, go back to the top level, and you should see it. Here’s mine:

If you see a blank screen, crash at start, etc., your data is most likely safe, and some weird edge is kicking in before loading. Our new build should help.

But if you panic and delete, the data stored will be gone too. This is the WORST scenario. Please do not do this even if you have multiple apps.

Try launching the app or wait some time. Some people have ended up restoring the list after a while. While we haven’t independently verified this, its likely the migration is taking some time.

Next, if you can click this link below from your phone and send us the log, it will help us tremendously.
