Clear Cloud (iOS Sync & Web) Alpha Test

Hi @harshad,

I have sent the Clear Bug Report.
And re-open the app.
So now it function very well!
Strange that it produced a Clear Bug Report!

Hey all, just pushed build 9348 which enables set reminders to sync across iOS devices.

The app will currently require being opened on the other device to sync over the reminder. (Support for reminders is also on the roadmap for Clear Web a bit later on.)

Should reminder date and time sync between iOS devices now? It isn’t between my iPhone and iPad. Thank

Are both devices on the latest TestFlight build? If so they should sync when you activate the app on the device B after adding on device A.. (We’re currently looking into background updates.)

Yes, both devices are on the latest TestFlight bill, but they’re still not syncing the Reminders. Thank you

Clear Web has been updated with a couple features filled in:

  • Reminders time/date tag will display (no editing or pushes on web for now)
  • Repeating tasks now display their status and should regenerate on clearing them away (click/hold for a second on completed items to clear them, WIP)

You should receive these changes when you refresh the webpage.

Hey team, thanks for the invite

Quirks I’ve found so far:

  • Ditto on having to log out & log back in to see lists synced
  • Themes with background images (like Good Afternoon) don’t render properly
  • You can create empty tasks by spamming Enter, and they appear on iOS, where tapping one and minimizing the keyboard deletes it
  • Reordering a list with enough items such that it exceeds the viewport height on web results in a scroll jump

Will keep documenting. This is awesome. So excited to see this ship :yellow_heart:

Thank you for joining the test! Appreciate the bug/quirk reports.

With the logging out / in to see the sync, was this on a secondary iOS device, or Clear Web? (And when did you initially join and set up sync?)

Hey Phill,

It was on Clear Web. I installed the TestFlight shortly before posting last night  (though I was part of the beta ages ago, if that’s of any relevance)

Hi! Really excited to see a web option in the works!

I’ve successfully joined, and my lists are syncing on web! Thank you!

Great to hear! Thank you for helping us test, ‘it went smoothly’ is always a useful report too haha.

ok, seems to work fine for me  love it!

now that there must be an api to make this work on the web, I am wondering if you could make it publicly available so that we can integrate it into homeassistant for example

Dates are syncing beautifully, and very quickly. Thanks for the steady work!

It does set up for that possibility in the future but I think it’s many steps further ahead!

@PaulB great to hear. It should update pretty instantly on app open. We had been looking into background updates too, the next build will likely include a stab at them, though it seems to update somewhat sporadically like maybe a couple times an hour.

Hey all, just posted build 9364 with background refreshing enabled if you have multiple iOS clients syncing. (Most applicable to widgets and Watch app I think.) It’s not instantly responsive but it should periodically keep things up to date through the day.

Let us know with any issues, especially things you think are important to fix ahead of inviting another round of testers!

I have a lot of lists but this is a bit much

Thanks for the report. This looks like a bug on the progress reporting. Does keeping the app open in the foreground eventually finish syncing?
If not, could you try restarting the app (app switcher then swiping up on Clear and then relaunching Clear)?

It did finish

Out of curiosity, how many of us do you have?

Just got my new phone, setup as new and forgot sync was not a thing. Quick google got me here so thought why not sign up.. so here I am. :upside_down_face:

Not sure if you do feature requests here, or if is something I’ve missed so far.

Is it (or could it be) possible once out of the woods of testing.. to have shared synced lists?

So if my girlfriend and I share a list we can update that list so each other see? Very useful for things that need to get done and instead of constantly asking each other “want me to pick anything on the way home?” or any other standard messages just having a shared note which we update when we spot something makes it easier and nothing gets forgotten.

We currently have a shared note in iOS that we kinda use in this fashion, but thought could be an idea for Clear to do a similar thing.

Just an idea, thanks all.

Been using Clear since around 2013 I think so am pretty excited it’s getting a key feature like sync!
