Will there be a Mac version for new Clear? (or iPad, or Apple Watch?)

I’m with you there. I loved being able to use Clear on whatever device I was nearest to/currently using and have everything synced. Am I in even more of a minority wanting the iPad version?
I’m aware the iPhone version can run on iPad… the only issue is it doesn’t sync or update lists the correct way, sadly. Wonder if that can be amended to allow a temporary solution, devs?

Hey team, what could be cool is if there were Clear widgets. The latest version of Mac OS brings iOS widgets out of the box. If I could create new tasks and check off/delete tasks from the widget, then that would solve 90% of what I want to do on a Mac. Something to check out?

I don’t think they support adding items/typing yet, but if they eventually did (maybe next year?) this could be a thing. (We do have interest in widgets in general for update roadmap with all the themes/personalization.)

I do wonder if they have any plans to just have a virtual iPhone pop up on your Mac or in their headset… there is this awkward reality right now where people are working on their big computer while still glancing/replying to various apps and things on their little computer.

Or say something like, if you’re looking at your phone, your bluetooth keyboard auto swaps over to that would be nice. Anyways!

Right here. Writing this with my iPhone unlocked and in front of my laptop  The other thing I liked about having Old Clear on all my devices was that I didn’t lose access to my lists temporarily if a device was somewhere else. If my phone was charging in another room, for example, I could still access my lists on my laptop or tablet. Having New Clear only on one device means sometimes taking notes about changes I eventually need to make to my lists when I pick up my phone.

I really miss the Mac app. At least make an iPad app, so we can install it on Apple Silicon Macs. It could be used in Apple Vision too that way.

Well technically it does run on iPad now but it’s basically iPhone app blown up. We have not checked it off on M1 because of no sync, and frankly haven’t had the time to really look at it and I think it may require some work to make it really usable on Mac. Will see.

Weirdly, Watch app could be a lot more straightforward to tackle sooner in the roadmap as well, I think there is actually a decent chance we hit that up in the next few months. (Overlapping work with the new widgets.)

for me, a blown up iphone app isnt an issue, its the fact that i cant access my iphone lists.

It would be great to have on the watch, i do like using Bring! for shopping lists because of the watch support for checking off items.

Hi team, wondering if it’s possible to allow the iOS app to be run on Mac this way? Use iPhone and iPad apps on Mac with Apple silicon – Apple Support (MY)

I see many iOS apps being able to support on M1 and M2 apps. So could be an interim workaround?

Hey Phill,

Please please please enable the M1 version of the app even if there isn’t sync. I don’t think “typical people” really browse the mac app store enough to accidentally download Clear in numbers huge enough that you would have to worry about reputation management due to it not being Mac-optimized yet.

Do this for us pro users like a secret backdoor.

Pleeeeeease, I really need it on my laptop :frowning:

I would also second the M1/M2 version enabled - or even distribute it as test flight so we can give it a go. Not having a way to access it on the desktop is a bummer.

We checked it out internally and it’s not something we’re happy with shipping! Lots of things don’t just work, like you have to click and drag for normal drag gestures etc.

Meanwhile we’re not that far from an early TestFlight of syncing, and simple web client…

That sounds amazing - happy to test

Hello Clear team! First time posting here (and tbh likely my only time posting here) — but as a 10 year Clear user, the deprecation of Clear’s iCloud-syncing Desktop app is really a crying shame, and I too humbly request that it’s re-implementation be prioritized :man_bowing:. I completely appreciate the practicalities you all are dealing with — the complexities, the cost, etc. Indeed, had there never been a desktop version, then it could “remain a nice-to-have, someday…” item. However, given the fact that it was an integral part of the user experience for many users (myself included) for literally years, no matter how wonderful the new app build is (and it is! I commend you all for it!), the current iOS-only version is inherently an incomplete product. It’s like having an amazing sports car that simply cannot be driven in the rain — no matter how good the sunny-day driving experience is, it will forever remain significantly less useful than the sorriest beater

Also, a side note: while a desktop application cannot support touch gestures, the hotkeys you all employed on the previous desktop build were absolutely spot on, and worked beautifully. There’s no solving to do there — you all already did a brilliant job! You just gotta build it

That all said — Phil, assuming the web client you mention reliably syncs with iCloud and supports the old desktop keyboard shortcuts (arrow keys for navigation, enter to add new items, spacebar for checking things off, etc.), that’d be even better than a desktop app! We just need SOME way to use clear via desktop

I appreciate that you appreciated all the details that went into the Mac app. But yeah it was an ordeal of an R&D project and implementation lol.

The current web app is testing a different direction – more like a live text document that is heat mapped and has check off functions and such. Keyboard shortcuts are still a possibility, probably more limited with this direction, but in a sense also more baked in like how you can navigate with keyboard through a text document.

Curious what you will think of it, it has some good tradeoffs and can feel less ‘modal claustrophobic’.

And for the people who were volunteering to test syncing, will definitely be posting in the forums as soon as it’s ready for TestFlight. (We have the todo list pretty down to performance fixes right now but it’s resisting a concise solution.)

Just chiming in with my 2c, though it sounds like something is in the works. What I do almost daily is screenshot my list and airdrop to my mac, which obviously isn’t ideal, but because I prefer this app over any other to-do list, I make the sacrifice  For me, even the bare minimum would be hugely welcome, eg. a mac app that at least shows me what is on my list. I don’t mind making the list edits on my phone, as long as I have the list visible on the screen I’m working on, where I’m getting the actual tasks done. Anyway, great App and I always recommend it to my community & followers who ask about my productivity practices, including little videos showing my Clear system in practice. Cheers!

Are you on the latest Mac OS / iOS? If so I recommend at least checking out Clear via the new iPhone Mirroring app. It might be a decent upgrade on your current hack around things.

We implemented a few keyboard shortcuts too with this in mind, can escape to back out, just start typing to add, and command + 1-9 will quick switch between your top lists.

Will also note you can add Clear iOS widgets on your Mac. It’s not editable, but it will mirror/show you your lists from iPhone there.

Thanks for your suggestion, that does sound like a potentially better workaround. I see a few different Mirroring apps, is there one you recommend? The “Screen Mirror with Keyboard” seems to have the most reviews. I’ll need to update to try the Widget. Thanks Phill!
