iCloud sync manual trigger

I’ve noticed that, between my iPad and iPhone instances of Clear, syncing doesn’t seem to happen automatically, and only until I make a change would they sync any missing task activity. So an explicit manual refresh function would be great. Though I wonder, if simply backing out to the home list could trigger a refresh, and reveal a small syncing check ✓ confirmation somehow. I figure that any self-troubleshooting over syncing would begin from the home list, and this eliminates a need for a discrete refresh button if/when we need it.

Seems like a really great idea. Any change in the past few days?

Well… I lost a bunch of new tasks that I made on my commute, after attempting to sync between my iPhone and iPad. My iPad instance (with older data) immediately overwrote all the new task activity on my iPhone, when I opened it up. :frowning:

Uh-oh, that’s bleak. I hope you’ll let the devs know and get a fix if it’s possible. I’ve been waiting myself because of just that possible situation. My iPad instance is very old, and I would hate, really hate to lose my many new lists and items on my phone. I will figure out how to do a back up, but… I kind of need a guarantee that that will work.

Please let us know what the outcome is when you get a chance.

Hey, just echoing this request – I had a similar issue of losing a bunch of list items during some kind of desync. If not a manual sync trigger, then some kind of status telling if the sync is happening, has happened, or has failed to happen, woud be helpful

Hi @jorohaco, we’ll definitely take a look here - to start, I’ve forum DM’d you a link to restore data from your available backups that should reinstate any lost data from your iPhone! Will also gather some other basic trouble-shooting info from you if you don’t mind.

Currently you can find a status indicator in the Cloud menu that denotes whether sync is connected or not, but unfortunately not yet on individual items/lists and their status. I will note this down for the team for discussion!

Thanks. Will follow up. Nothing catastrophic—was just a handful of things. But it now gives me pause.

@ben this is embarrassing but where are the DMs in this forum platform?

If you head to your profile in the top right of the forum, you’ll see a small mail icon. This is your inbox and should contain the DM I sent over!
