Clear 2.5 with Cloud (iOS Sync & Web) Beta

Ok, it goes on.

  1. The Hh status of some tasks disappeared.

  2. I had had enough of testing and rushed to log out of Cloud in fear. After that, it appeared as if Pro was no longer active. Only after closing Clear did the Pro status seem to be recognized again. (Hope I can re-enable Cloud again later without overwriting local data.)

I also experienced the fourth issue.

I logged out of iCloud sync after reading the issues it now tells me my Clear Pro has lapsed. I should be on the free membership at the moment due to the number of purchases I made from the shop before pro was launched. I’m a bit confused by all this now :grimacing:

Sorry about this. Can you please send us a log by clicking this URL from your phone: https://tinyurl.com/3vt2y5w6 to clear@impending.com? We’ll take a look at it. When you email us, let us know which email address you used to log in to Clear.

After that, to make sure everything is absolutely safe, you can back up your data by clicking this URL: clearx://export-data on your phone. Save this data on your phone in the Files or Downloaded section so we can restore it if needed.

Once you have backed up your data now try logging in to the app and check if everything is back to normal.

Please let us know what the fourth issue is. Meanwhile, we’ll get to the theme issue later this week or early next week once we have sorted out data integrity. Hope you can understand.

Can you send me an iMessage at phill@impending.com with your post’s details? I think that would make it quicker to debug.

Thanks all for the reports so far everyone. We may be reaching out to some of you via direct message with some questions, if so I think you will get an email notification from the forums.

Right now the most urgent issue we want to 100% resolve is the early reports of several people’s list becoming merged on the server.

Good news is we were able to catch it really quickly with alarms raised in the forums, identify the lists affected, and basically quarantine them from syncing services before the issue became more widespread. So this should not be happening as of the server fix ~18 hours ago. We think 8 people were affected and have been in touch with some of you, if you haven’t reached out yet please email clear@impending.com about it!

We should be submitting 2.5.1 this week or early next, this update will reassign the affected list IDs so they will behave and sync as expected moving forward.

Meanwhile, keeping track on the other issues coming in! And I think we should be able to make good progress there next week.

Sorry, I worded it poorly, I meant the fourth issue ralf mentioned, the one about Clear Pro not being recognized after syncing was disabled.

And don’t worry! I’ll keep data syncing off for the time being tho, my theme is important to me  but I’m open to help you debug it after the most urgent issues other uses are having are addressed.

Hi, Thank you so much for finally launching the cloud sync! I have been waiting for this since I first downloaded your fab app when you first launched it. I know there will be teething issues, and I also have full faith that they will be solved, and appreciate your commitment and support.

My two main issues so far have been:

  1. Not all my lists have synched, there are elipsis 3 dots instead of the lists that are missing, and its not just the title of the list, when I press to get on it, there is nothing in it
  2. The lists that have synched are months old… :face_holding_back_tears: I have lost all my new lists, items etc… Is there anyway to recover these? :folded_hands:t3: (I took your advice and have now backed up my lists as you suggested earlier - it worked very well and very easily )

To report after the app auto-updated:

  1. I had to restore purchases to get Pro back.

  2. All reminders are visibly gone, but as luck would have it, one went off this morning, so they’re still working despite not being there?

Stay tuned @ben will send you a link to send us a log first, then he will provide a TestFlight link to try restoring a previous iCloud backup!

Thanks @r1y3, I wonder if the Pro status issue is specific to TestFlight > App Store, we’ll be attempting to reproduce this. And very helpful note about the reminders!

No prob. I actually wasn’t on this or any recent TestFlights, to be clear.

Just adding another data point here – I experienced the same issue as @noons11 where one of my lists got rolled back to a state from months ago. I don’t think I experienced any issues with merging though.

Another thing I’m now noticing is that when I open the app fresh into a list via a widget, it takes a couple seconds for the individual theme to kick in. It shows the main theme I have set first, and then (I assume the pause is confirming Pro or whatever?) my custom per-list theme will kick in 2-3 seconds later. Hopefully that is straight-forward but I can take a video.

EDIT: It either does this, or it says Clear Pro Subscription Ended, at which point it takes a minute to kick back in, or I have to restore purchases.

Hello, I also just experienced the same issue as @noons11 and @wagle ! All of my lists that have existed for a while are being reverted back to what they were a few months ago, so I’ve had a lot of content deleted from many of my lists. The only exception is a new list I made a few hours ago, which looks fine. I am wondering if there is a way to restore these lists.

I currently don’t have the pro version and wasn’t trying to set up icloud sync or anything. The only thing I changed in the app was the theme of my lists right before this bug occurred. Not sure if that had anything to do with triggering it or not.

Same here.. I wonder if there is a way to restore the most recent version of my lists :frowning:

I’m also having the issue with all my lists reverting to their state from several months ago, including list names. Also, all my reminders seem to have disappeared. I don’t have a Pro subscription, and I don’t think I made any changes that would have triggered this bug other than installing the 2.5 update.

Just adding data points, for what’s worth. I haven’t used the TestFlight version in a good while, more than a year, and I’m also experiencing the Pro status bug. I’m on a ā€œlegacy proā€ plan.

Issues started after I switched off the sync features.

@JPKiro @a1calypso @erythrina I suspect this build with a fix for iCloud restore (should be a part of 2.5.1) should be able to help.

Do you mind first using this link to send us a log, and mention your forum username in the email:

https://tinyurl.com/3vt2y5w6

Then install this TestFlight: Join the Clear: To Dos & Reminders beta - TestFlight - Apple

And use this link to bring up a list of backups to restore from: https://tinyurl.com/ymb5p84u

Let me know if you are able to recover to a recent backup with lists intact.

I keep receiving this message every time I open Clear. I can go into the Clear Pro screen and press ā€œRestore Purchasesā€ near the bottom to get Pro back, but I have to do it each time.

For further context: My subscription is good until February. I’ve only been on the public release since Clear Pro was first offered. I’m always on the latest version of iOS (and Clear).

This one is next up on the higher priority issues we’ll be debugging! (Wrapping up a fix for iCloud restore and looking into some people’s lists reverting to old version first.)

Appreciate the details with your report.

Sorry all I realize it’s been a little chaotic! We have been making some steady progress fixing down the triage list and it’s been very helpful receiving feedback here and being able to followup with you all. I think with a couple patches we should be in a much smoother place reasonably soon.
