Clear 2.5.1 is live with a number of important fixes!
Fixes an issue where some hardcoded list IDs were not being synced
Fixes an issue with some users were seeing lists reverted to earlier states
Fixes a bug that affected iCloud backups restore functionality
Fixes an issue that prompted about Pro membership expiring, when it hasn’t
Fixes an issue with Pro membership being disabled (until purchase restored) on logging out of Clear Cloud
We’re still working through some reports but (knock on wood) we’re hopeful this patch will fix the most urgent issues so far. Thank you for everyone who has been sending us feedback and reports with this 2.5 release which rolled out Clear Cloud + Web betas.
Clear Cloud Beta
We are finally rolling out Cloud beta for Clear Pro members, featuring the long requested return of iOS syncing, plus Clear Web!
As a Clear Pro member you can find the new Clear Cloud screen on the home level of the app. (Navigate back twice out of a list to get there.) Tap into it and sign up with a free account to get started.
Clear Web is meant for desktop use, and can be accessed at app.useclear.com. We recommend you first create and login on your iOS device with your lists, then when initial sync is completed, check out Clear Web.
P.S. If you’re checking out Clear Web on Mac you might also find it useful to share it out once logged in as a desktop app from Safari’s share menu, so you can have Clear as its own mini web app in the dock.
Our focus during this period is to make sure the core syncing functionality and Clear Web feel solid and polished enough to exit ‘beta’ status.
There are some missing features to be filled in later:
Rewards progress syncing
Formatting options, repeating items, setting reminders from Clear Web
What else do you think is missing?
Please share any feedback and bug reports in this thread!
Just made an account here to say thank you! 2.5 was about the first time I’ve had major troubles with the app in many years, so it feels great to see it addressed so promptly!
That’s good to hear! Still got some fixing ahead of us but hopefully we addressed some of the issues you ran into. Let me know after you’ve spent a bit of time with the latest update
I’ve updated to 2.5.1, confirming 2.5.1 fixed the recurring legacy/Pro subscription but not being recognized. Sync is working well for me too.
I’m seeing a new issue with disappearing item when setting reminder. Sharing steps to reproduce:
Select a list
Close/reopen Clear (should open directly in list)
Create new item and set reminder using toolbar before hitting enter/return
Item disappears (and/or crashes app if there is no item below the newly created item)
It seems to occur regardless of list position and where new item is in list. Only happens first time after opening app, afterwards no issue setting reminder
Thank you! Going to see if I can reproduce that reminder issue here, thank you for the detailed report it’s very helpful. (And the notes about the stuff that’s working too!)
Edit: I was able to reproduce it, at least in the case of a test blank list with no other items. We will be investigating this further, thank you again was extremely helpful!
Hello, I updated to 2.5.1 to resolve the Pro expiring issue. After updating, my Pro subscription wasn’t working so I went to “restore purchases” but that didn’t work. Now it just says “Restore Error”. How do I get my Pro status back?
Darn OK, so there’s a more specific issue still with this. Do you mind using this link to send us a log? https://tinyurl.com/3vt2y5w6
(And if you can include your forum username in the email for reference)
BTW I heard there was some massive Cloudflare outage yesterday, not sure if App Store uses it but it might be worth trying Restore once more and then send us the log.
Thank you, I think we did identify an issue related with our RevenueCat integration, we should be patching this in 2.5.2 and also looking into if we can ‘unjam’ things from the server side for people affected.
The theme issue seems to happen only with certain ones. Others are unaffected.
Wonder if it has something to do with certain themes not properly syncing and getting reverted back to a “default” state every time the app does some checks on launch.
I went through all of themes I have. Of those, Purple Dragon and Sunset exhibit this behavior. They will both revert back to Heatmap after closing the app and reopening it.
Of course, there might be more themes affected, but I can just test the ones I have haha
Ok thank you. This is just a random thought but do you happen to have those themes set to specific lists? Trying to think of any other possible angle. But yeah we’ll check those out!
Nope. I do have two lists with custom themes, one with Bondi and one with Shangri-La. But this behavior occurs when setting up Purple Dragon or Sunset as the main themes for the entire app, and only if I have sync enabled. If I disable sync, they stop reverting.
