Clear 2.5.3 and 2.5.2 with Cloud Beta and fixes

Clear 2.5.3 is now released, including a few more fixes:

  • Fixed unintended popup for users logged into Clear Cloud
  • Clear Web separately featured on Clear Pro features list
  • Recruitment popup for Cloud Sync and Web testing for current pro members

Previously Clear 2.5.2 was released which includes a number of bug fixes:

  • Fixed crash while adding a reminder the first time on an pre-opened list

  • Fixed bug for some members where their membership status failed to load

  • Fixed cosmetic glitch when sorting “Clear Cloud” on home level

  • Fixed sync percentage value bug that could go past 100%

  • Fixed sync issue in rare cases involving data sanitizer failing

  • Removed the unintended return of ‘long swipe to set reminder’

The update is live now on the App Store! You can grab it here. And of course let us know on any confirmations on above fixes, or any bug reports!

Help us test Clear Cloud beta

We have been rolling out Cloud beta for Clear Pro members, featuring the long requested return of iOS syncing, plus Clear Web!

As a Clear Pro member you can find the new Clear Cloud screen on the home level of the app. (Navigate back twice out of a list to get there.) Tap into it and sign up with a free account to get started.

Clear Web is meant for desktop use, and can be accessed at app.useclear.com. We recommend you first create and login on your iOS device with your lists, then when initial sync is completed, check out Clear Web.

P.S. If you’re checking out Clear Web on Mac you might also find it useful to share it out once logged in as a desktop app from Safari’s share menu, so you can have Clear as its own mini web app in the dock.

Our focus during this period is to make sure the core syncing functionality and Clear Web feel solid and polished enough to exit ‘beta’ status.

There are some missing features to be filled in later:

  • Rewards progress syncing
  • Formatting options, repeating items, setting reminders from Clear Web
  • What else do you think is missing?

Please share any feedback and bug reports in this thread!

YAY! Did you all manage to figure out what’s going on with the bugged out themes? Or will that fix arrive in a later update?

I think it’s one of a handful of remaining issues we’re now tracking, so will see if we can figure it out for 2.5.3.

Good to know! Lemme know if I can help you debug it somehow

This update is now live, but we are doing a phased rollout so it won’t go out in auto-updates immediately.

I think it should be pretty safe, if anyone here can grab it and confirm some of the listed fixes that would be great!

Grab it here on the App Store

Any idea when set reminders are going to be visible again? Lots of negative impact with that one.

Can you share specific details on this one, or steps to reproduce?

I assume you mean the ‘tag’ on the top right, I’m seeing them show here with some test reminders so it seems a more specific bug. (If you posted details before let me know with link.)

Sorry, I thought I saw that this was a known issue. The details are that I have a calendar-style list of one-off/monthly/annual items all with set reminders, and when this Cloud update went public it eventually auto-updated (I don’t TestFlight or update early anymore due to this app working as intended being crucial to me), at which point I noticed that all of my reminder labels were gone. I got a push notification for one of them still about an hour after noticing, leading me to believe that they were in fact just invisible instead of deleted. But that was the only time that happened, and I know that others were supposed to go off in the meantime. I got charged $120 by Peacock for an annual plan where one of those reminders was my reminder to cancel early, so, not awesome. Working on getting a refund for that one, seems like I will. For the rest, I’ve manually hunted down all of the dates again and re-added them. Anyway, not sure how you’d reproduce, but I thought I remembered someone else saying they had similar troubles? Here’s a screenshot of the list where they should all have dates, but don’t. The one that does was me playing around after they got wiped. Thanks.

Can you send us a log with this link? https://tinyurl.com/3vt2y5w6

I’m guessing new reminders set since the update should work fine but yeah… I wonder what went wrong here. We had addressed a separate first-reminder-set after app launch issue but not this issue.

I suspect it might be related with the 2.5 issue that was de-activating member status for some people. Were you affected by that?

Keep me posted on the refund situation.

Bigtime affected by it, lol. Was restoring purchases many times a day. All refunded on Peacock thankfully. I sent logs already via iMessage a few weeks ago for another issue that should also have this covered. Search r1y3 and it should come up.

Noticed a bug. When you create a task and try to add a reminder for another day the task disappears. The only way to do it is by creating the task and the go back and add the reminder in second step to the already created task.

Found the solution. Before you press the reminder icon you need to enter a space after the last word of the task. If you don’t and just press the reminder icon the whole task disappears.

Was able to replicate the issue on version 2.5.2, seems to occur with the first reminder set after a fresh launch of Clear. Along with a crash quickly following the reminder disappearing. It does appear that after the initial reminder fails, reminders can then be set no problem until Clear is force-quit again. Is this something you’re experiencing as well?

The team has the information and will continue to investigate what’s going on with reminders!

Yes this is exactly what is happening when I further tested the issue. Thank you

Anyone else having this issue with the web beta where data is not syncing properly & lists are blank with lines through them, that can’t be deleted, even when archived.

Just noting that we were discussing this on a team call, @ben will be following up with some steps to try. We think it should ‘unjam’ things for you and would be curious if it resolves it / confirms our theory.

How do I make this happen? I’ve logged in but still shows waiting for initial sync on web.

Edit: I forced a sync in the app by toggling it in iCloud in Settings, and it showed syncing to 100% in the app but just shows blank lists on the web (but has all archived ones):

Hi @VO3, we’ll be investigating the issue here alongside the issue @Mer is experiencing. Can I ask you to check your forum DMs for further information? Thanks!

Noting that we’ve released 2.5.3. I’m going to merge it into this thread since it’s a smaller one:

• Fixed unintended popup for users logged into Clear Cloud

• Clear Web separately featured on Clear Pro features list

• Recruitment popup for Cloud Sync and Web testing for current pro members

The main thing is we’re announcing the cloud beta testing to current pro members and hoping to get a decent new cohort of people trying it out. So let us know how that goes in this thread!

Hello, I’m experiencing this same issue. (Thank you all for your hard work!)
