Hi there
I have lost all ability to add reminders to tasks no matter how far I swipe. I feel like the swipe was amended to a bottom of screen option a while ago but that was buggy af and don’t see that anymore either.
They changed it. Now, while editing an item, tap the top right corner of the item to set a reminder. Why top right corner? Because that is where the reminder time will show up.
The developers should do a much better job of informing users of such changes. There are numerous ways this could be done within the app, perhaps by adding a change log in the form of a new list whenever the UI changes. Above all, it should not be assumed that all users are on this forum!
In addition to the reminder “tag” area @hanche mentioned, Clear will now recognize any typed out dates/times and present a “Set Reminder” button at the top of your keyboard.
We’re looking into ways to present these sorts of changes more clearly moving forward, can definitely do better there!
Yeah this has been an issue we’ve been trying to improve on. Starting with 2.3 we implemented a what’s new screen that is more standard (like Apple’s apps) that should help, and I think we will be taking a stab at a general ‘how to’ section in the app.
Try as I might, I cannot for the life of me trigger the reminder with any clicks in the upper right of the item. And it looks like a long swipe right no longer works, either.
I was able to type out the time and have Clear recognize it, luckily. But this shouldn’t be that hard.
The top right tap only works when you’re already editing the item, that is, when the keyboard is on the screen. But also, as I have noted elsewhere, if you had a reminder set and cleared it, you cannot set a new one. This is a bug, presumably. The workaround would be to copy the text to a new item and set a reminder on that one.
Hey, sorry for the confusion here - we temporarily disabled tapping the “tag” area due to some bug reports there. We’re looking to release the new toolbar feature shortly, which will have a more reliable and easy-to-access way to add and edit reminders!
I am using the app store version, where it still works. Sorry, should have said so. Perhaps @kingmob is on the testflight version? He didn’t say, either.
I’m not on a testflight version.
I have zero idea if the keyboard was open, though fwiw, my intuition would be that tapping in the upper right would be more likely to work with the keyboard closed. Typically, an open keyboard restricts changes to just the associated input field; enabling non-keyboard activity seems wrong.
We did try that behavior internally but it felt like it made the inherent issues of an ‘invisible button’ worse, in that you could accidentally tap it and be confused. (Combined with it requiring onboarding, and the reality that many users skip or gloss over that stuff.)
I am overall quite happy with the toolbar update that we should be submitting later today! Feels like a much simpler and obvious overall solution.
