Clear Desktop 1.1. – window persistence, hide scrollbar etc

New version uploaded. You should see an update pill on the top right for those on the beta version.

Notes:

  1. We have now hidden the right scroll bar, making the interface much cleaner.
  2. The check box on your left will be centered within the task, even if it is multi-line.
  3. The app will now remember your window size and position for each display, so you can seamlessly switch between your laptop display and your wide screen and maintain the same sizes you configured.
  4. Fixed crashes. Thanks for the error logs.

Enjoy!

Hi Cherian, I have updated multiple times and then the same update reappears.

Thank you for this. We’ll look into this and get back soon.

Can you please help us with a diagnostic report?

  1. With Clear open, click Help in the macOS menu bar → Export Diagnostic Report…
  2. A zip file will appear in ~/Downloads named Clear-Diagnostics-.zip (the Finder window pops it open
    automatically).
  3. Email harshad@impending, cherian@impending.com or send you that zip via DM.

Just sent

Just wanted to say to ALL of you @ CLEAR:

THANK YOU!!! So much. Really. You guys are EPIC!!! :clap:t3: :clap:t3::clap:t3:

I have been with you since the beginning and I have seen how hard you’ve all worked…

Much much appreciated

Thank you :folded_hands:t3:

We looked at the diagnostic logs and realized that you are running the application not from the applications folder but somewhere else, and because of that, macOS is preventing you from executing certain commands. In this case, the updater cannot replace the executable because the folder where the executable runs is not accessible to it.

I will respond with a DMG package that, if you run it, will open a step to drag it to the Applications folder. Please do that, and that might help.

To double-check all these things, we will also provide you with another script to run and see if this is the exact scenario.

The fact that nobody else has raised this issue and has silently updated to the latest version is also an indicator. Otherwise, we would have been flooded with messages here.

Hoping we get to the root of this soon.

Am I missing something? I have been using and paying yearly for the app in the appstore and gave up the beta a long time ago. Should I be using a version from Testflight again?

This is clear desktop, which is different from the clear mobile app, and the clear desktop app is not available via TestFlight.

Please refer to this thread.

Can you please run this command and let us know the output?

osascript -e 'POSIX path of (path to application "Clear")'

/Apllucations/Clear.app/

@cherian - currently running 1.1.0 - had deleted and reinstalled, and the reappearing update popup has disappeared.

PS - really wish web app, Mac & iPad went back to this design for great functionality and quicker task organization.

is the plan to have swipe gestures in a later version?

Right now, you can do drag and drop, but not across the lists. At every task, look at the rightmost side. You’ll see the four dots that you can drag up and down.

Dragging across lists is a massive amount of work due to the data integrity and sync functionality involved, so it might take a bit of time to get there.

This is a good one. We have this in our roadmap, so hopefully the desktop user adoption is high enough to justify investing in building the sidebar.

following up on this

Gestures are a bit complicated to get right on a desktop with a tiny team right now. We have added this to the roadmap. We have some releases coming out soon, and once they’re out, we’ll look into this.
