Change inspirational Quotes

Hello - normally I like the little inspirational quotes that are found in the app. But I was pretty surprised to see one from Kanye West. I believe in free speech, and obviously you have the right to keep it if you want. But considering that he has said some things lately that are rather offensive (and seem very far from truth-seeking) are you sure you really want to be championing him?

Hey the last time I added a bunch of quotes to the new Clear betas was a few years ago. So there are some that haven’t aged well. Will be looking at culling Kanye, Elon and some others in a pass, plenty of other inspirational people to fill our quotes with.

I’m going to add my +1 to this. Seeing quotes from Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Kanye West doesn’t feel particularly inspiring.

I sent feedback using TestFlight, but I’m glad to see I’m not the only one, and that the list is likely going to be adjusted.

I am updating these now for next TestFlight. Just culled quotes by Kanye, Elon, Bezos, Zuckerberg and J.K. Rowling. Also will be adding a bunch of new ones I had saved over the years.

Would it be possible to make it a setting?

• System quotes
• User quotes

• For those who dislike quotes they simply select the User Quotes list but leave the list empty.
• For those who want their own quotes / affirmations they can simply put them in the ā€œUser Quotesā€ list.
• System Quotes simply shows Clears own quotes.

It’s increasingly possible as we dive deeper into personalization we will explore things along those lines, though probably frame them as personalizing your quotes vs. ā€˜settings’. I would guess 2.x roadmap though.

It would be cool if you could import a text file (thinking the fortunes.dat file from the Bash fortune command line app). I’d love to make it look like when you pipe fortune into the good old cowsay command
