What you could do to access the search bar is pulling down from the _title_ of the list/area you are in. I do love the idea of a spotlight search, but this idea popped into my head so I thought I’d share it. ---

Even if not spotlight, maybe a search page in-app (perhaps its own category on the main Clear page). I’ve been using Clear a lot for long detailed lists too, to track project milestones etc, something I didn’t think I’d use a minimal list making app for lol, and that would def be handy 🙂 ---

i think the search should be hidden, but what to bring it out? what i notice is that there is a duplication. to get a new item at the top of a list you can pull down. but you can also tap on the list name. maybe tapping on list name could produce the search box? ---

I think further out in the future, when Clear has personalizable gestures, it could be a good time to consider an in-app search as an action to pair. So you can swap pull to go back with search for instance. But personalizable gestures is probably like… a 2.5 or even 3.0 marquee feature kind of thing, so Spotlight Search is intriguing, and it would stay useful even if we add in-app option. Have to look into it though, if the spotlight search integration requires swift data or something then it’s more involved! ---

Also, I am fine so far using this workaround, and I have a huge list. Just do the screen shot, on the ipad a list option comes up in the middle, click on it, I send it to notes and can easily and quickly search there, it works for me, so it makes the Search feature not as vital to me, as say, syncing b/t ipad and iphone. 😀 Thank you! ---

So about the Spotlight search integration – we looked into it but we ran into some really basic problems with their API… I don’t want to pin the blame on Apple preemptively but we set up an isolated test project and some things like simply being able to search blocks of text that we would present to them to index was behaving very hit or miss. So this is unfortunately shelved for the moment. (I am somewhat hopeful there could be improvements and some refresh for this API on the way in the next iOS because I expect it to have some major investments in Siri, and what it connects to.) ---

I think we can at least sanity check this again this coming week. It would really just be a check to see if anything on Apple’s end has changed since last year. (Possible with iOS 18 and the Apple Intelligence push but will have to see.) ---

Sanity checked, still broken in latest iOS but we found a workaround. Spotlight search integration is now in Clear!
